    "Dignency"
We all make up words, intentionally and accidentally or by honestly mistaking what we're trying to say. It's a funny and cute and sometimes annoying thing we've all done at least once in our life. Today my adoptive little brother and I were having a very earnest conversation about his situation with the ex-girlfriend who remains the love of his 17 year-old life and despite the seriousness of the conversation and the feelings he was trying to convey, the kid keeps harping on how the bitch girl bitch (sorry, I'm just a fiercely loyal and protective big sis so, yeah, the lil ho's a bitch for hurting my boy) "didn't even have the dignency to return my calls and tell me about this other guy."

Dignency. New word. I like it. It's a bastard of the words dignity and decency, decency being the word he actually meant to use, but ... dignency. Has some kind of ring to it, doesn't it?

OMG, A FIC! "The Thunder Rolls 1/?," Mag7 OW, Chris/Vin, Suitable for all ages this part.
Ok all, this has been a highly productive day off for me and I'm darn tempted to celebrate, but will hold off on that 'cause I'm a bit nervous about this one. Right now, I'm attempting to mosey into a new fandom (for me, new, though it's been around for quite a few years now) and I've no idea if I'm doing it right. I know [info]gwyn_r and [info]maygra are into this fandom, so I'm hoping I catch the eye of one of you for a few pointers. Not sure when I'll be adding to it or how much there'll be when I do. Just hope y'all bear with me and kinda like what I come up with. Enough jabbering, I s'pose, here's the nitty gritty:

    Title: The Thunder Rolls
    Author: [info]missmishka
Fandom: The Magnificent Seven (tv series)
    Pairing: Chris Larabee/Vin Tanner
Rating: Will hopefully achieve an adult rating, but currently safe for any/all readers.
Disclaimer: My dvd cases credit MGM Television Entertainment Inc and Twentieth Century Fox with the copyrights to this show and I thank them all kindly for putting it out on dvd so I could find it.
Summary: Post-series, Vin decides it's time to change a few things between Chris and himself.
Notes: No beta and most of the grammatical errors are deliberate, but I hope their inclusion and the style in which I'm chosing to write this don't distract from the story. My first attempt in this fandom with these guys, so getting my feel for their characters. Let me know, please, how I've done with Vin. The title and inspiration for this can be credited to the Garth Brooks song of the same name. The story won't go down the same way as the song, though, rest assured.

Ok, here goes something ... )

    A Slasher's Anthem
I'm sitting here listening to random songs on my computer looking for fic or vid inspiration and I hit on one of my all-time favorite tracks. "The Dark End Of The Street" by The Commitments or from The Commitments movie soundtrack, whichever may be proper. I'm listening to this song for like the millionth time, thinking it's best suited for the Mag7 fandom - which I'm mired in right now having just finished a marathon viewing of the season 1 & 2 dvds - and a Chris/Vin vid and/or fic and then I got to thinking, wait. No. This song is SLASH. It works for any fandom and pairing where secret or conventionally taboo love can be found. It works for Cake. It works for Gary/Randy in the BHD fandom, a fact which [info]perseph2hades pointed out long ago in a long forgotten post or comment she made. Dom/Brian from TFTF? Oh, yeah, works for them.

Now y'all take a look at the lyrics and give the song a listen and tell me a fandom or pairing it works for or disagree with me completely. )

    This Obsession May Be Unhealthy
In honor of Mother's day, I'm making my mom a cake - just put it in the oven and am posting this as it bakes. The whole time I'm mixing the batter, though, all I can think of is the other Cake that is currently eating away at my heart and mind. The AI6 pairing of Chris Richardson and Blake Lewis, affectionately known as Cake. My mind is whirling like the beaters as I contemplate scenarios where these two make a cake together and do improper things with the batter or eat a cake together and do improper things with frosting or where the two of them just forget food and pretense and do some pretty damned improper things to each other. And then I get to wondering if tonight will be Blake's elimination and if Chris will be in the audience tonight to watch and I honestly think I'll cry if Blake does get eliminated and Chris isn't there to witness it and be nearby to console his lil guy.

And now I'm thinking I think WAY too much about these two. Seriously. Y'all don't wanna know how many times I've watched and rewatched last week's elimination video, focusing solely and intently on all things Cake. It can't be healthy. Especially given the number of times I keep zooming in on Chris as he's adjusting himself onstage as he stands next to Blake and they wait for Ryan to quit preening and just get the announcement over with already. Is it just me, some weird lighting trick or is Richardson packing a third leg(can't find a screencap that captures just the right angle to show the uninitiated, but fellow CupCakes, y'all know what I'm saying, right?) Either way - YUM MEEEEEEEEE, and mammoth manhood will feature into at least one of my future Cake fics. I just cannot resist.

Last night's show was just so lackluster without both of my boys. I feel like the oven door was opened too soon, causing this cake to fall flat. *sniffles*

See? I've cheesy metaphors out the wazoo for these two. I seriously may need an intervention. But not until I've caught up on all the fics out there. And the pretty icons and such. And, you know, I've gotta stay in the know until their cds hit and all ...

    Title: Empty Handed

    Fandom: American Idol season 6

Pairing: Blake Lewis/Chris Richardson aka Cake or Blis

    Rating: G/All Ages

Summary: Blake, the day after Chris departs

    Word Count: 704

Disclaimer: NOT mine, NOT real. Just fantasy and fiction and is it really my fault if they make it seem so plausible?

Warnings: Real Person Fiction, a touchy subject for some, so you're warned.

    Questions
    Hiya all,

I've two quick questions for anyone who might have an answer or opinion:

First, I want very much to create my own mood theme using various pics of my fav actors, but I've no idea what all is needed to do this. Of my graphic savvy acquaintances, I ask - what all do I need to do/know to create a mood theme?

Second, I'm pushing the limits of the storage space for my website and I really don't want to bump up my plan to get more space because I know I can get a better bargain elsewhere. I'm a vidder, so I require a good deal of webspace and an even greater deal of bandwidth - my current host provides me with 400 MB space and a 600 MB limit daily downloads (18 GB monthly) I'm currently doing websearches on things like "internet hosting" and "webspace" to get an idea of my options, but before I spend too much time surfing through all the search results, I was wondering if any of y'all could offer an opinion/recommendation for a good hosting service.

With that, I go back to searching and waiting for the Oscars - first time I think EVER that I've been eager to watch the awards.

    Thanks and ttyl,
    Mish

    HUGS To All
Has it really been more than a month since I was last on here? Yikes.

I hesitate to say "I'm back" 'cause I just know that'll jinx me, but I can say I am here today so HI! *big smothering hugs and kisses to my much missed flist* To spare us all, I'll not go into the whys of why I've been offline for so long, but I will say that this year has got a LOT of improving to do if it doesn't want to go down as the worst year of my life. There has been some good spots in it, though, so I'll focus on those. Got a raise at work - YAY and ... GOT LAID - don't worry, I'm not going into graphic details :P Yeah, baby! That's quite possibly TMI for many of you, but seeing as it's been three years (vow of celibacy thing that I can't believe lasted this long) since I even went on a date, this past weekend was soooooooooooooo good and so very very VERY necessary. I feel relaxed and alot more ready to deal with whatever else the fates have got up their sleeves for me this year.

On my fannish front, my fics are a bit stalled, but will not be forgotten. I've kinda shelved them all to focus on a vid project in honor of "Prison Break"s approaching return to Fox. The vid will hopefully work itself into suitable shape within the week, so I'll be back to trying to write immediately after that. Continuing/finishing The Night series will be my first fic priority.

All that aside, I'm sure I've a ton of works to catch up on from my favs on here so I'm gonna totally laze and just read up on all I've been missing.

    The first round of the

But several were stories I'd never had a chance to read before or works by above mentioned writers who have posted something new that my current rl schedule has kept me from following.

    My Brokeback Mountain Songlist/Soundtrack
One of the many reasons I love the Brokeback Mountain fandom is that it gives me an opportunity to perhaps introduce some of my flist to a genre of music that never seems to get much love by people I know - country. I'm from West Virginia here in the US and live in a valley between mountains that honest to God block out any kind of radio station other than country so the music's a good part of my life. I'm a rock fan - alternative/punkish - first and foremost, but I do listen to and love a great many country songs and artists. And when you peel away the surface and look deeper into the lyrics of a great many country songs, you can find tracks that beautifully/painfully/poignantly/starkly capture the emotions of the Brokeback Mountain story - particularly the heartwrenching tale of Ennis/Jack.

So after much thought and consideration, I've compiled a list of 24 songs that, for me, capture some part of the story. I really meant to get it down to 17 and make it an 'alternative soundtrack' to the movie, but after cutting over 300 songs down to 150 down to 70 down to 60 down to 40 down to 30 and finally down to 24 I just can't bring myself to sacrifice anymore because each of these just have something that screams Brokeback at me, so maybe y'all can help me cut 7 more.

    As Promised: Serenity Screencaps!
Must be getting to bed 'cause work beckons bright and early in the morning, but before I bounce I wanted to post this.

Serenity is a great movie. Period. Nuff said. Seen it? No? It's out on DVD and VHS as of today here in the US, so rent it, buy it, watch it and you'll LOVE it. It's good on oh so many levels in oh so many ways even if you're not a Browncoat or if you don't know anything about Firefly - the television series the movie stems from, which is available in it's entirety on DVD and I highly recommend you rent/buy/watch/love.

I will be vidding this movie. I will be ficcing this movie. And I will be capping more of this movie, but for now I've got 35 caps from one of my favorite scenes, and quite possibly the sexiest scene, from the movie. Captain Malcolm Reynolds, played by a buffed up Nathan Fillion, awakened from sleep.

    Christmas Has Come Early!
    OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!

First cause for celebration - I'm off today! *dances* Just today after working like two weeks solid and *grrrrrrrrr* I have to work Christmas Eve, but we're closed Christmas day so HOORAY! Although that'll be family time and I still won't be able to play on here like I wanna, but still I'm hap-hap-HAPPY.

Second, SERENITY is here on DVD! *bounces in chair waving my copy* I am capping the scene with Captain Tightpants' pants being not so tight as he lays on his bunk and we get that tantalizing glimpse of his tanline and the yummy swell of his butt. *convulses* A montage of that scene will soon become my desktop wallpaper. In fact, I may print each frame out and paper my bedroom walls with it, his ass it that fine. *leers at image and bites*

Third, [info]mizmolko made me this ) fantabulous William Fichtner colorbar because I have so fallen in love with her colorbar creations and reviewed her new works faithfully so she offered to do a custom one for me and I instantly said William Fichtner and his hands and voila my prettiest new colorbar! *hugs and kisses to her*

And then we have the tons and tons of new fic postings I missed from my most beloved writers on here. )

    M.I.A.
    Hiya all,

Been a bit since I posted anything and just wanted to let everyone know it'll be longer before I get around to actually writing or capping anything to share. It's Christmastime in America and I work retail so work is a nightmare, especially since the other assistant manager at the store has taken an indefinite time off because of a family emergency and I won't be getting a day off until she comes back. And it's Christmas time here in the U.S, so I'm pretty much dying here. Not gonna be able to keep up with any updates on my flist during this time as I'm kinda exhausted and coming home from my shifts, eating something then crashing so if I've not posted my usual rave reviews on something new you've written know it's only 'cause I haven't had a chance yet. I'll be catching up on all the goodies y'all have gotten done asap.

Since it's unlikely I'll be back until after the holidays, I want to wish you and your families all the best this season, may you enjoy any gifts you give/receive and may you all stay safe and warm. (((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))

    Rules To Live By
From [info]wynterhawk from [info]benson3: DON'T RAPE HER: "A lot has been said about how to prevent rape. Women should learn self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark. Women shouldn't have long hair and women shouldn't wear short skirts. Women shouldn't leave drinks unattended. Fuck, they shouldn't dare to get drunk at all. Instead of that bullshit, how about:

If a woman is drunk, don't rape her.
If a woman is walking alone at night, don't rape her.
If a women is drugged and unconscious, don't rape her.
If a woman is wearing a short skirt, don't rape her.
If a woman is jogging in a park at 5 am, don't rape her.
If a woman looks like your ex-girlfriend you're still hung up on, don't rape her.
If a woman is asleep in her bed, don't rape her.
If a woman is asleep in your bed, don't rape her.
If a woman is doing her laundry, don't rape her.
If a woman is in a coma, don't rape her.
If a woman changes her mind in the middle of or about a particular activity, don't rape her.
If a woman has repeatedly refused a certain activity, don't rape her.

If a woman is not yet a woman, but a child, don't rape her.
If your girlfriend or wife is not in the mood, don't rape her.
If your step-daughter is watching tv, don't rape her.
If you break into a house and find a woman there, don't rape her.
If your friend thinks it's okay to rape someone, tell him it's not, and that he's not your friend.

If your 'friend' tells you he raped someone, report him to the police.
If your frat-brother or another guy at the party tells you there's an unconscious woman upstairs and It's your turn, don't rape her, call the police and tell the guy he's a rapist.

Tell your sons, fathers, brothers, uncles, god-sons, nephews, grandsons, sons of friends it's not okay to rape someone.

Don't tell your women friends how to be safe and avoid rape.
Don't imply that she could have avoided it if she'd only done/not done x.
Don't imply that it's in any way her fault.
Don't let silence imply agreement when someone tells you he 'got some' with the drunk girl.
Don't perpetuate a culture that tells you that you have no control over or responsibility for your actions. You can, too, help yourself.

If you agree, repost it. It's that important.

Fake RPS Fic: "The Night, Part 3/?," BanaBloom, ultimately
Title: The Night, Part Three of ?
    Rating: Pretty PG this chapter.
Overall Summary: Orphaned at a young age by vampires who slaughtered his family, Orlando is on a mission to rid the world of their kind. Will that change, though, when he meets Eric?
Chapter Summary:A look at how Orlando passes the daytime hours and FINALLY – Eric, unnamed and really only a flash, but still – Eric!
Feedback: It is the blood upon which I feed and survive.
Disclaimer: Not mine and not really real either. All in my head and no reflection of anything in real life – the premise is vampires, that’s a sure sign we’re in the fantasy realm. Just casting Eric and Orli in these roles ‘cause I like imagining them in the scenario and I’m not creative enough to give them any names other than Eric and Orlando. Same with others cast in the story. No offense meant to anyone.
Notes: Unbeta’ed and subject to change as I read it over again after getting some sleep. Been forcing myself to write all day and really am not sure what I’ve come up with for my efforts, but this is something that feels done at the moment – for a chapter, at least, so here goes. Just wanting very much to get back on track with this series before [info]bloominbabylon can poke me too much to finish it. Also, and as always, inspired by the wonderful [info]eviea who gave me the vamp!Bana plotbunny. *note to self: spank her later* :-P
